2010 Special: Share a Botswana Private Bush Lodge 1 Year, 9 Months ago Karma: 2
Enjoy this once-Off Botswana Bush opportunity - to share private bush lodge for 5 days

Max 4 adults (also space for 2 children under 12)

Where:

Within the famed Tuli Block on Botswana's eastern border adjoining Zimbabwe to the north, and South Africa to the south. Two major rivers - the Shashe and the 'great, grey-green greasy'* Limpopo River [*Kipling's description in Just So Stories] meet.

Known for its diverse ecosystems: riverine forests, savannah plains, open marshland and rocky, sandstone outcrops, the Tuli Block is an untamed, ancient land studded with with prehistoric baobab trees. A land that gives sanctuary to a wide variety of wildlife, landscapes and scenery.

Wide open spaces ... gigantic skies ... night skies with stars so clear and so close you can reach out and touch them ... a silence so deep and so still.

It's the place to recharge your soul and reconnect with nature, just as it was meant to be.

What you can expect to see:

Predators are prolific in this area - so you may encounter lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena, jackal and even wild dog. Vast herds of elephants. Other large game includes wildebeest, giraffe, kudu, zebra, eland and waterbuck. On night drives, you could see caracal, leopard, aarvark and the elusive aardwolf.

Over 350 species of birds have been recorded in the Tulu Block, so it's a birdwatcher's paradise. Look out for raptors, shrikes, kingfishers, cormorants and ostriches.

When: Departing Johannesburg Thurs 8 July, returning to Johannesburg Tues 13 July 2010. This is one of the best game-viewing seasons as it's the dry season - grass is lower and animals gather around water holes. There are also less insects! Days are warm but nights can be cold.

Price per person sharing: R3500 per day (min 5 days).

Includes: All road transportation ex-Johannesburg, open 4x4 vehicle game viewing within the reserve (2 x 4-hour game drives daily); luxury accommodation in two chalets with twin beds and ensuite bathrooms, serviced daily; all meals; professional game ranger; all drinks and alcohol (local brands only); border crossings; gratuities; camp facilities including swimming pool; and yes, viewing the FIFA 2010 World Cup final!

Excludes: Imported alcoholic beverages, items of a personal nature, flights.

Would suit: 2 couples or 4 guys travelling together, with a thirst for experiencing wild, untamed Africa; a sense of fun and adventure and a taste for enjoying the day's stories over a few cold ones round the campfire at night.

Type: Luxury, fully catered

Highlights: game viewing vehicle with experienced ranger virtually on call, bush walks (on request).

What to pack: casual, neutral coloured clothes - comfortable, light cotton shorts & t-shirts for days; warm, long pants, sweaters & jackets for evenings. Night drives can be cold so bring gloves, scarves & beanies. Comfortable walking shoes. Binoculars. Hat. Sunscreen. A sunny disposition.

Warning: the Tuli is a special place. There is a real danger of addiction.
