Steeped in the blood & sweat, tears & triumphs of the past and its people.  The tip of Southern Africa has a rich and varied past - fascinating in its diversity, trials and tribulations.  It's acknowledged to be the"Cradle of Humankind", from where all mankind originates.  It witnessed the birth of some of the most heinous acts against humanity - like the first concentration camps (1900-1902) during the Anglo Boer wars.  And the Apartheid regime of racial segregation instituted by the Afrikaner Nationalist Party (1948-1994).  And it's seen some of the most amazing miracles of modern times - the bloodless shift of power to the ruling African National Congress (ANC) after the first democratic elections in the country's history (1994) under the leadership of Nelson Mandela - surely one of the greatest and most loved people of our time.
