Counting down from just 40 Fridays to go until kick off of the FIFA (TM) 2010 World Cup on Friday, 11 June 2010, South Africans are being urged to mark each one by showing off their stuff as a sports-crazy nation ... by wearing a football shirt to work.

It's a joint initiative of the 2010 Fifa World Cup South Africa Organising Committee, the Government Communication and Information System, South African Tourism, the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) and the International Marketing Council of South Africa (IMC). 

And making Football Fridays happen is part of the Fly the Flag for Football campaign which was launched earlier this year. 

It's all geared to ignite football fever amongst South Africans and to get them to show solidarity and support for both their national soccer team and enthusiasm and national pride as hosts of one of the largest sporting events in the world.
