Cape Town ready for 2010 World Cup Kick-off Party |
Some of South Africa's best-known artists, musos and performers will be at this souped-up kick-off party on the eve before the country welcomes the biggest tournament to hit this continent ever: the 2010 FIFA World Cup™
The line-up includes Hip Hop Pantsula, JR, Kurt Darren, Soli Philander and Vicky Sampson. Relative newcomers Locnville, Flip a Coin, Joey Rasdien, DJ Reddy, Emo Adams and Fancy Galada will also take the stage during the 10-hour concert.
And it's all happening at the FIFA Fan Fest area of the city's Grand Parade. There'll also be plenty of entertainment and action from 14h00 until midnight - and, of course, it's all free. They're expecting about 17 000 people at the Fan Fest - with another 50 000 plus people partying in the streets of Cape Town’s city bowl.
Already Capetonians have been given a taste of things to come. Some of the performers got together outside City Hall on 1 June to show the media some of what's in store for next Thursday: fire dancers, minstrels, a 'Nelson Mandela' effigy and a stilt giraffe with four-metre long legs'.
C'mon Cape Town - get ready to welcome the world at the biggest street party the Mother City has ever seen!
Ayoba!
