Township TV brings safe entertainment |
Since its launch in Diepsloot (December 2007), Township TV has now completed its seventh installation - in Joubert Park, central Johannesburg. The other 5 venues where Township TV is already live are Alexandra, Ivory Park, Diepkloof (Soweto), Lenasia and Eldorado Park.
The guys behind Township TV are promising to launch another three sites before kick-off of the Confederations Cup on 14 June this year. A national roll-out is also on the cards. One of the initiators of Townwhip TV, Graeme Joffee (sports presenter on Radio 94.7) says: "Township TV is taking TV to the people. The free entertainment is not only educational but also very uplifting.
"We want to touch as many people as possible with this social-responsibility initiative and invite corporates to get involved from either an advertising or activational side. Township TV gives direct communication to the masses with a captive audience. Kids and adults alike spend more than 20 hours a week in the recreational parks." Partners in this scheme are DSTV (SA's satellite bouquet service), Johannesburg City Parks & El-sat satellite dishes. The 4 x 3 m screens are switched on at 2 pm daily. The parks where these screens are housed are safe, clean & have 24-hour security. After schools, kids can play & watch TV in a safe environment. After hours, sport is the favourite with thousands travelling considerable distances to get their soccer viewing 'fix'! For more information, go to: http://www.townshiptv.co.za. |
