Introducing The People's Bus - a 2010 fan office-on-wheels, bursting with football trivia and fan gear that will carry the fun and excitement of the build-up to the FIFA (tm) 2010 World Cup to as many South Africans as possible.

The colourful People's Bus World Cup supporterThe brightly painted bus is the brain-child and baby of Brand South Africa and MAN Truck and Bus.  It officially got on the road on Friday 19 February and it's all set to visit over 50 towns, villages and cities in the exciting build-up to the kick-off of the biggest football spectacular on 11 June 2010 at Soccer City in Johannesburg.

The People's Bus comes complete with a crazy roadshow team to  gear up South Africans to be the best hosts, fly the highest flags, sing the most stirring national anthem and learn the most dazzling Diski Dance.  At each stop, there'll be dance workshops, music and fun competitions. Of course, there'll also be mini football matches and special football clinics for schools on the agenda.

Not only will the roadshow drum up support for the Football Fridays initiative, it also aims to inspire confidence in South Africa's national squad, Bafana Bafana.

It's a hands-on journey

The bus has been carefully designed to educate and entertain the public on all aspect of football - from a tour within the bus to FIFA facts to foosball tables and mini-cinema shows.  The interior of the bus is a world of football - with a floor that looks like a football field, seats covered in Bafana Bafana jerseys and bright, colourful artwork and the walls.

"Taking the People's Bus into the country areas and smaller towns and cities will enable us to spread the World Cup experience to as many South Africans as possible," said Brand South Africa Acting CEO, Paul Bannister.

Look out for The People's Bus at the big events

The bus is also due to make stops at big sporting and cultural events around the country in the run-up to the World Cup – including the Comrades Marathon, the Rand Easter Show and the Cape Town Jazz Festival.

The bus was generously donated by MAN – which took 300 of its employees six weeks to convert.  They also supplied a dedicated driver, fuel, insurance and audio-visual equipment for the duration of the roadshow.

After the World Cup it will be reconverted into a standard passenger bus.
