 Spring is the time to welcome back the giants of the deep - the Southern Right whales to the waters of Walker Bay and the arrival of Spring!
Hermanus is probably the best land-based whale watching venue in the world. And each Spring, Hermanus hosts a wonderful Whale Festival to celebrate all that this picturesque seaside village has to offer: a spectacular natural environment, whales, great local music, comedy and rhythms.
The heroes of the Hermanus Whale Festival are all things on marine and the emphasis is on how to protect and conserve these natural treasures, while being able to appreciate them to the full.
The star attractions are of course, the whales. As a friend said: "they're so close and so entertaining - it's almost as if they're hired to perform for us!"
