Don’t miss out on three highly appealing and unusual selections this Friday, Sunday and Tuesday! A SPRING SURPRISE
POPULAR PIANO EVENING - Bringing together music for the onset of spring (if one takes 1 September as the Spring starting date!) Christopher Duigan plays a selection of popular music bursting with energy. For this performance expect to hear music from the world of tango, including the famous La Cumparsita, Scott Joplin’s Solace, plus film music by Richard Guinness and world acclaimed Ludivico Einaudi. This popular choice together with classics from Grieg- his haunting Nocturne and Wedding Day at Troldhaugen - along with the elemental Rustle of Spring and sultry Spanish dreams from Albeniz - make up a light-hearted and energetic evening.

SUNDAY CLASSICS
This special Sunday afternoon concert features a wonderfully evocative hour of music for two of the most captivating orchestral instruments, oboe and viola. In an engaging yet gently melodic concert enjoy music by Charles Martin Loeffler (1861-1935) - Two Rhapsodies, and August Klughardt (1847-1902) - Schilflieder. Klughardt’s Schilflieder or Reed Songs, show a marked influence of Liszt and Wagner. This ultra-Romantic music is based on a selection of poems by Lenau. The performers are outstanding soloists from the KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra; Durban-born Magrit Deppe (oboe) and British-born Principal Viola, David Snaith with Christopher Duigan (piano). A must for lovers of beautiful music.
