For just four days in the beginning of August, time will go by exceptionally slowly. Robertson Slow-ly.
It's the 4th annual Slow event and it happens in the picturesque Robertson Wine Valley - about an hour's drive from Cape Town.
29 Wineries and guesthouses from Ashton, Bonnievale, McGregor and Robertson join together to welcome visitors into their homes, their dining tables and onto their farms for a food & wine experience - that can only be enjoyed one way - SLOWLY. Guests can look forward to dinners at the homes of winemaking families, cooking traditional Robertson Country Fare such as Waterblommetjie Bredie, 8-course Organic Meals, Braaied Snoek and Karoo Venison.
Of course, wine always plays centre stage for this weekend so you'll have ample opportunity to meet with the winemakers to taste and discuss their wines.
And if you want to soak up some new skills, you'll be able to learn how to make salami, try your hand at making pasta and learn how to plan the perfect dinner party.
For outdoor lovers, there'll be horse riding, boating, fynbos & renosterveld hikes and walks.
A highlight of the weekend is on Sun, 8 August, when the 3rd annual Regional Food Market takes place. Local foodies & cooks bring out their finest kitchen and garden offerings for sale. There'll be live music, wonderful food and good wines to enjoy - s-l-o-w-l-y!
It's a great winter weekend break from the city - as well as the chance to restock your cellars and pantries. Tickets are limited so please visit Robertson Slow for more details on the programme and where to book.
