2010 will see the 11th Joy of Jazz festival, sponsored by Standard Bank. Jazz lovers have, as usual, a special line-up of jazz greats to look forward to.
 This year's fest takes place at 6 venues in the popular Newtown precinct: the Dinaledi Stage and the Mbira Stage will be erected on Mary Fitzgerald Square, creating two purpose-built venues; The Market Theatre, The Bassline, Sophiatown and Nikki’s Oasis.
The Standard Bank Joy of Jazz has already put many a local jazz artist onto the international jazz arena. This annual jazz-travaganza attracted an audience of just 2 000 in its first year. Now the festival attracts over 20 000 jazz fans. There's an international line-up featuring some of the world's top artists as well as a showcase of undiscovered and home-grown talent.
Headlining the jazzfest on the opening night on the Dinaledi stage is a trio of top performers - celebrated soul singer Rahsaan Patterson, London-based guitarist & vocalist Brian Temba and the phenomenal Cape Town jazz singer, Auriol Hays.
Other big names include trumpeter Chris Botti and acclaimed jazz singer Lala Hathaway.
