From its humble beginnings 10 years ago, with vision of bringing 700 South Africans - of all races, creeds, colours, cultures and from all walks of life - at a single table on Table Mountain to enjoy a lunch together, this has grown into one of the country's biggest and most favourite fundraisers.
Its intent is beautifully simple. To heal a nation.
This event takes place in 3 different cities in South Africa on the same day and at the same time: in Cape Town on the slopes of Table Mountain, in Johannesburg at Constitutional Hill and in Polokwane at Mitchell House School.
Since it's inception, the Table of Peace and Unity has raised over R7 million – R1-million last year alone.
The lunches are fabulous 5-star affairs - prepared by the area's top celebrity chefs.
Top entertainment is provided by leading South African artists - like Danny K, The Bala Brothers, Jason Hartman, Coda, Bianca La Grange, Three Tons of Fun and the African Skye Pipe Band.
These lunches not only bring together South Africans with the common purpose of peace and a true, lasting unity, but 100% of the ticket sales benefit children's charities throughout the country. Tickets include a 3-course gourmet luncheon, paired with South Africa’s finest wines and beverages and top-class entertainment.
Some previous charity recipients include:
Cape Town: The Tygerberg Children's Hospital Johannesburg: Copes Clinic, The Door Of Hope Polokwane: Fanang Diatla Kwa-Zulu Natal: Bobbi Bear, The Hibberdene Children's Home Port Elizabeth: Unathi Pre School
If you are not able to attend but would like to join in the spirit togetherness and giving - why not host your own Table of Peace & Unity?
