Johannesburg has suddenly got more beautiful. Because there are suddenly over 100 (102 to be exact) more beautiful women in it.
They're here for the Miss World Pageant - a prestigious event which creates jobs, positive publicity and opportunity as well as promoting the country globally - especially in the run up to the FIFA (Tm) 2010 World Cup.
President Jacob Zuma warmly welcomed the contestants at a ceremony last Friday. In his address, he stressed how he believes that the Miss World contestants can play a significant role in addressing the challenges facing the world. "They are ambassadors and can promote peace, love and prosperity in the world," he said.
South African hopeful is the lovely Tatum Keshwar.
"It is not going to be easy, all these ladies are beautiful and I'm expecting a tough competition. However, it is great to compete at home and I'm confident that I will do well."
Good luck, ladies!
