Once again the surfers of Cape Town are getting it together for another attempt at a Guinness World Record with Earthwave this Sunday. The category? The most surfers riding the same wave ...

Despite the notorious Cape Doctor (Cape Town's infamous south easterly gale) being in full swing, the local organisers are confident about topping the current world record held by Brazil - who's Earthwave recorded 100 surfers on the same wave last year.
More than 350 surfers are expected to line up at 12h30 on Sunday before taking to the waves from 13h00 - 14h00 to win back the record they set with 73 surfers on the same wave in 2006.
Besides the Earthwave record attemp, there's a heap of other exciting events planned for the day - like talks and demonstrations on sustainable lifestyle choices to reduce our carbon footprint, Longboard and SUP events, a Diski Dancing demonstration and meeting Miss Earth SA. There's also thousands of prizes to be won. And there's a hectic after-party planned at the Brass Bell (say no more!).
Even Metrorail is coming to the party. To reduce carbon emissions and relieve traffic congestion, anyone with a surfboard can travel free on the trains to and from Muizenberg on the day. For spectators, there's a ‘buy-one-get-one-free’ special offer. They're also bringing a group of disadvantaged kids to take advantage of the free surfing lessons from the Roxy and Surf Shack surf schools.
