This is the 5th annual Soweto Festival ... and once again it promises 4 days of live performances, music, dance and serious fun.
The festival celebrates Soweto's uniqueness: "Even though we are living through the biggest economic downswing in a generation, the Soweto Festival is here to stay and is growing bigger and better every year," said Adele Lucas, one of the organisers.
The festival is aimed at developing the arts in Soweto and giving young people and international artists an opportunity to interact and learn from each other.
This year there will be a youth zone, story telling, beauty and fashion, home improvement, business services and tourism, as well as a large, small, medium and micro exhibitor contingent, mostly drawn from Soweto, a beer garden and outdoor recreational area.
Watersports have been introduced this year, with dragon boat racing, canoeing and rowing competitions on Orlando Dam in partnership with the Soweto Canoe and Recreation Club.
Hope to see you there!
