In a world first, the WesBank Street Race, brings the roar of engines and the smell of burning breaks and rubber to the streets of Soweto.
It will be the first time a race of this nature has been held in a township. The Sowetans have had a little bit of time to get used to the idea - as the 'launch' event took place there last November with a crowd of about 900 attending.
This time, there'll be grandstand seating for 8 000 plus access is totally free. The track is an L-shaped one of about 2,2 kms long. Spectators and motor enthusiasts will be able to get up close and personal and stroll through the pits and look at the cars and chat to the drivers.
Featured this year are the WesBank V8 Supercar, Bridgestone Production Car, Interfile Superbikes (1000cc) and Supersport (600cc) , Formula Volkswagen and Engen Volkswagen Cup racing.
There's plenty of parking, free entrance & seating (first-come, first-served) and loads of food & refreshment stalls.
