Before Winter forces us homebound, come enjoy a day and night in the beautiful country village of Verkykerskop in the North Eastern Free State.  This year the festival returns to a one day event on public holiday, Workers Day, 1 May.

Our main feature this year is the extraordinarily talented Chris Chameleon, performing for the first time in an area close to his heart. More artistes will be confirmed within the next few weeks.

As usual the festival will also feature an art gallery in the Old Post Office, this year headed up by Masjien who produce works locally but export all over the world, with Coco Chanel and Michael Schumacher listed as clients.

Fleamarket stalls will run throughout the day and night, keeping with the Verkykerskop theme of “made by hand”.  As usual, we impose a “no plastic” rule.

Kids will be entertained with pony rides, jumping castles and a mini disco as the sun sets.

This year a dedicated food marquee will operate for the duration of the event, with food ranging from light snacks to a full meal buffet, in a sit down dining area.  Meal tickets will be available for purchase on the day.

The SAB Beer Tent will open from 10a.m, until late with various djs and singer guitarist Andre-Michael performing popular country hits.  No alcohol will be served to under 18’s.

Verkykerskop’s Rekord Jazz Bar will operate from Wednesday 30 April until Sunday 4 May with guest DJs and alcohol specials.  Relax on the deck of the bar overlooking the dam – perfect for sundowners!

We welcome The Studebaker Club of South Africa to Verkykerskop with their collection of stunning cars.  Old car clubs are welcome to join in the fun and display their collections.  Bring an antique car and get free entrance to the festival!
