Greyton, W Cape: 9th Dirtopia MTB Festival
From Friday, 01 May 2009
To Sunday, 03 May 2009
Every day
Hits : 147
It's hard to believe that this is the 9th Dirtopia Mountain Bike Festival,- time flies when you're having fun!!

This is still the only true mountain biking event in South Africa which attracts bikers of all disciplines (yes, we went to check the others!!!). With defying-gravity and awesome trail riding & stunt events - there is certainly nothing that compares ...

To prepare you for what to expect we have highlighted a few of the weekend's
activities. Come for a day, or spend the weekend - all options are catered
for.

Friday 1 May:
Beginner Clinics during the day, Marked trails to ride, Kids Adventure Race,
Trail Run(10km & 22km), Outride to Greyton, Super D, Widowmaker Hillclimb,
Nightride and Evening Bicycle Polo

Saturday 2 May:
Enduro (60km; 40km and 13km), Trials Competitions, FreeRide (!!!!), Dirt
Jumping, Night Dual and Live Band(Akkedis)

Sunday 3 May:
Funrides (NEW!!!) 40km, 20km, 17km (tech), Downhill Race (practice all
weekend) Check the schedule on the web for times etc. We also built an
awesome new singletrack (contours above the Widowmaker!) and rerouted the DH
around the top field.

The enduro on Saturday loses the mountain singletrack start but gets a new loop never used before and we have a never beforeridden 20km loop installed for the Sunday Funride with the option to extend to 37km by including the technical mountain singletrack loop. Loops also
available as separate options (20km/17km).

This gives Sunday a completely new look compared to the lap race (boring...) of the past. The lap race loops are there to enjoy at your leisure.

Well that's some of the 15+ reasons to come - and that's just things you could do
with a bicycle!
