Many of the French Huguenot founding fathers made this fertile valley in the Cape Winelands their home and today there's still a strong French flavour to the cuisine, architecture and je ne sais quois of the place ... but Franschhoek, as being the undisputed French Corner of South Africa, has certainly earned the right to celebrate Bastille Day with reckless abandon. It's the only day in the year that you can get away with wearing a beret. Highlights of the Festival include a Food & Wine Marquee, a French Film Festival, the Chef’s & Waiters Race, Pêtanque, the Barrel Rolling competition and lots more!
