The Cape Town International Kite Festival is one of Cape Town’s favourite family events, and the only international Kite Festival on the African continent.

This two-day event attracts up to 25 000 visitors, highlighting the rich, multi-cultural and beautiful diversity of the Western Cape. The event will take place on the scenic and natural grounds of Zandvlei in Muizenberg – where the skies above will be coloured and decorated with spectacular show kites from around the world, as well as many other kites flown by our local and national professional kiters. Aspiring kiters, and the public can bring along their own kite, make one at the festival or simply buy one from any of the kite stalls, and join the fun by flying high.
