Classical music at its best!
Soloists include the celebrated American cellist Gary Hoffman playing Lalo’s Cello Concerto, and the young South African pianist Tinus Botha, performing a work by a local composer Stefans Grové – his piano concerto “Raka”. The Cape Philharmonic Orchestra is conducted by Arjan Tien. The Cape Philharmonic Youth Orchestra will then join the CPO and the two orchestras will together perform Beethoven’s famous Symphony No. 5: the symphony that has become emblematic of classical music for many, is an excellent choice to start the largest Cape Town International Summer Music Festival yet.
