Roxy South Africa has announced the list of twelve surfers that have been invited to contest the 2009 Roxy Invitational at the fabled Ponto d'Oura.

The list includes 10 of South Africa's top female surfers, plus two surfers from Reunion will be joining the challenge.

Topping the list is 2008 Roxy Invitational winner and former World Championship Tour surfer Heather Clark (Port Shepstone), who will be going all out to defend her title and claim the R10,000 winner's cheque.

This is the third year of this successful and popular event, and the R15,000 in prize money up for grabs and the idyllic setting of Ponto d'Oura will ensure that the 2009 event will be as exciting and enjoyable as the previous two.

The official Roxy Invitational website has been updated with the invited surfers profiles and also offers 2008 event pics, video and news. The Roxy Invitational is presented by Saltwater Girl Magazine, in association with Virgin Mobile and Resolution.

The two international invitees, Johanne Defay and Canelle Bullard, both hail from the tropical island of Reunion, have been raised surfing the island's perfect reef breaks. They bring a wealth of experience and talent and will also be looking to put on a good show for their South African rivals.
