A weekend retreat at Simunye Ngothando in Midrand with Dom de Bruin (Gogo Gerrie) and the Thokoza family.

The weekend will encompass a number of different indigenous therapies and healing techniques from the Thokoza lineage of Sangomas. "Thokoza" translates as "I greet your ancestors with joy".  We are a 'school' of traditional African healers. Our school is rooted in working with the "Mandawu" or water spirits, these beings are also called the "Mer-People" in some other traditions. This is a path of Divine Love.

Some of the techniques, ceremonies and knowledge we will be sharing include:

 ·        Our cosmology and spiritual world view,

·        the African sweat hut,

·        cleansing and shielding techniques,

·         an introduction to important indigenous healing plants,

·         beading and medicine pouches,

·        dancing and storytelling, introducing a bit of our mythology,

·        Mandawu water healing ceremony

Our school is very focused on cross-cultural bridging work. We have worked with medicine people and healers from North and South America, Europe and Scandinavia, and the Middle East. Many of these healers and shamans have also been initiated into the Mandawu work, and our family of Sangomas stretches across the world.

We have found our healing methods very compatible with all other holistic modalities and paths of spiritual evolution, and we strive to integrate other spiritual approaches into our work. The weekend is also aimed at sharing African energy and ceremonial healing tools for people working with other healing paths.

We look forward to seeing you.
