Johannesburg, Sandton: Jollywood Film Industry Conference
Wednesday, 18 March 2009, 08:00 - 17:00 Hits : 153
Like Hollywood (USA), Bollywood (INDIA) and Nollywood (NIGERIA), South Africa now has its own movie industry known as JOLLYWOOD (the fourth in the world).

Initiated in 2007 by BRAIN AFRICA FILMS, JOLLYWOOD will focus on the production of films based on the South African Culture and way of life.
The first JOLLYWOOD movie titled RAINBOW LOVE is ready for release and this conference has been organized by TIVUMBENI BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT and BRAIN AFRICA FILMS to sort the cultural, Tourism and Economic benefits of a movie industry/movie production umbrella to South Africa.

This conference will also serve to launch the movie production industry/umbrella/village. When the industry was incepted, media houses and everyone has been interested and do advocate the umbrella to mature such that the huge Economic benefits including that of promoting the South African Culture to the world, Job Creation and foreign revenue can be realized.

The ‘film’ industry, from pre-production to distribution, plays a vital role in the economies of South Africa. It stimulates growth, generates substantial employment, brings in valuable foreign exchange and acts as an important means through which technology is transferred and the South African skill base is upgraded. It is also one of the best forms of promotion for the country. Film has further social and political implications through the role it plays in communicating ideas, providing information and engendering debate.
