| This year, the Hermanus Whale Festival is going GREEN. And all businesses & locals are urged to wear green, black and white over the 5-day festival - to show solidarity for this, the only enviro-arts festival in South Africa. | | | This festival is an annual event, to celebrate the return of the Southern Right whales to the waters of Walker Bay, our magnificent environment and the arrival of Spring! Hermanus is world-famous as the best land-based whale watching destination. Each year, it plays host to thousands of visitors who flock to the seaside resort to see these magnificent creatures of the deep up close & personal. Of course, there is a host of other entertainment to keep you rooted to the spot - music, comedy, caberet, music, and more ... And the claim about being green & eco-friendly is not an idle one. There will be a large environmental expo, 'Design for Sustainable Living', organised by the Overstrand Conversation Foundation (OCF) at Market Square which will include a stage for debating, a food and wine emporium and educational activities for the kids - as well as other educational and wildlife initiatives. But it's also fun, with golf days, vintage cars, fun fairs and a host of activities. Vist Hermanus Whale Festival site for the full programme and lastest info. | |
