| Over 1200 wine tasters, 250 designated drivers & 250 kids attended the 2008 annual Spring Wine Festival, and there was plenty of room for more! The Spring Wine Festival is held in aid of the Woodland Preparatory School in Magaliesberg. It's an outdoor festival and is held on a large country estate with lots of lawn, shady trees to sit under and on the banks of the Magalies River. Here you can sample some of South Africa's best wines in a relaxed setting. There are usually some 500 wines to taste, so it's a full day's work if you're keen! However, it's also a family fun day out so there's jumping castles & supervised entertainment for the kids. Designated Drivers Since 2001, Cellar Rats Wine Club has had the foresight & common sense to make it a policy that all Designated Drivers get in free. As far as we know, they are the only wine fest to do so - and this gets our vote!! Take one with you, you'll relax & enjoy the day far more! Disabled Visitors There is a drop-off facility for disabled at main entrance by prior arrangement - contact jeanette@realsa.co.za Please Note As this is a school fundraiser, no cooler boxes, picnic baskets or braais will be allowed in - drinks & food will be on sale. Blankets, chairs & sun umbrellas are welcome. Accommodation Should festival goers wish to stay in Magaliesburg on the Saturday and / or Sunday evenings, The nearby Valley Lodge, which supports the "don't drink and drive" initiative is offering a 50% discount on accommodation for the duration of the weekend for festival-goers.
