This year, Volcom South Africa decided to GO BIG - and not do a whole bunch of regional events, but rather get it all together for one huge event - one big VQS championship titled - THE VOLCOM GAMES!

This will be a 3-day surf contest featuring four divisions, Open, Juniors, Groms and Girls.  Prize money stands at R40K & the winner of the Opens also gets a plane ticket to California to compete in the World VQS finals.

Already a host of top surfers are signing up for this event.  Durban favourites include:  Josh Redman  Chad du Toit,  Simon Nicholson and Shane Thorne, then Nick Godfrey (St Francis) and WQS campaigner Gavin Roberts (Scottburgh).

South African junior surfing is on the up, making this one of the toughest divisions. The list of entrants includes the likes of Hadyn MacNicoll (Bazley), Davey Brand (CT), Mikey February (CT), David van Zyl (Dbn) and Brendan Gibbens (CT).

The girls division will also be closely scrutinised as a host of the country's top female surfers go head to head: Capetonian Stacy Guy Alice MaGregor (EL), Heidi Palmboom (Bluff), Lynn Mackey (Dbn) and Tarryn Chudleigh (CT), amongst them.
