About
Khekhekhe is a tradional South African Sangoma (witch doctor or medicine man). This descendant of the legendary Zulu leader Diniswayo, the mentor of King Shaka, is family man with 16 wives and over 100 children. He has the power to communicate with the Zulu ancestors. On the 23rd of February each year he holds the annual first fruits ceremony as was done by the line of sangomas before him. He has messages to convey ... and ancient stories to tell about Diniswayo and how he acquired his power of snakes as a young man. Many other sangomas attend this ceremony which sees the famous Khekhekhe holding venomous snakes in his bare hands as he demonstrates his extraordinary powers.
This ceremony only takes place once a year - on the 23 February.
