About

This small boutique hotel started off in one of the houses in 1993 and expanded to the second house in 2001. Both houses were originally built in 1921.

When the original owners Jake and Ester set out on a mission to create a fantasy world for their discerning guests they could never have dreamed of the success that they would enjoy. The 'new' owners (Jannie and Celeste') took over in 2007 and have continued on the same successful path.
The hotel is based on the writings of  JRR Tolkien (The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, and the Silmarillion) and each room has been tastefully decorated in an individual style and named after one of Tolkiens' heros.

The air-conditioned, en-suite bedrooms and suites are individually decorated inVictorian Style.

Luxury touches include fireplaces, embroidered percale linen, duck-down duvets, handmade bedspreads, electric blankets, gowns and for the lonely singles, a teddy to keep them warm.

Each day a full set of toiletries, fluffy towels and clean bed linen is provided.

Why visit Hobbit Boutique Hotel
Best Features: The idea of the comfort and sanctuary of a Hobbit's house where you can rest in comfy chairs and lay your weary body in a soft clean bed is epitomised here. Each room is individually decorated and there's incredible attention to your every comfort.  Nightly turn-downs come with sherry and a good night chocolate.  All the mod cons like telephones, internet connections, multi-channel TV, radio, hairdryer, safe, stocked bar-fridge and a tea/coffee tray can be found in the rooms.

Bear In Mind: The Hobbit is about relaxing and putting your feet up. It's about enjoying life and the little things that go with it. If you're a minimilistic, impatient sort of person then head for one of the chains.

Things to Do and See
Apart from all the cultural & historical sites to enjoy in and around Bloemfontein, the lodge itself has a small but well-stocked library ... with a sunlit window 'cove' to cuddle into with a good book and while away the afternoons, looking out over the beautiful gardens.  Not surprisingly, there's quite a few JRR Tolkien conversation pieces and chess sets.  Bloemfontein summers mean lazy hot days around the pool ... and for the evenings, the unique and cosy pub is a great meeting place to discuss the day gone by, and plan the day ahead ...
