About

These two charming cottages date back to the 1800s.  They're a great blend of authentic Karoo style and ambience, with every creature comfort. They have been beautifully restored and furnished with antiques. They face each other across the shady quiet of one of the most picturesque streets of the town.  They each cottage have their own private garden.

Cypress Cottage

Pine and slate floors with reed ceilings make an attractive background for the lovely country-style antique furniture.  There is a comfortable living room and a dining room and three en-suite bedrooms, each with different but equally comfortable options:

Room 1 has twin beds, plus bath and a shower cubicle
Room 2 has a double bed, plus bath with telephone shower.
Room 3 has a double bed plus two single beds plus bath and shower cubicle - makes an ideal family room

The cottage opens onto a secluded private garden and has access to the extensive gardens of the main house, a swimming pool and a special playground for children.

Jacaranda Cottage
Across the road from Cypress Cottage, Jacaranda has three en-suite bedrooms, a comfortable dining room and sitting room and a covered patio that makes a perfect spot for breakfast and sundowners . There's also an outdoor dining and braai area out in the garden, beneath the shade of a vine-covered pergola.

Room 1 has twin beds and a shower
Room 2 has a double bed, a bath and shower
Room 3 has a double bed, bath and shower

Things to Do and See

There are a multitude of superb museums and art exhibitions in Graaff-Reinet that are really worth the effort.

But if you only do one thing in this area then make sure that you visit the Karoo Nature Reserve that surrounds the town and get to the viewing sites above the town and over the Valley of Desolation. Sundown with a bitterly cold drink overlooking the Karoo is a life-enriching experience.
