About

Less than a block away from the magnificient Dutch Reformed Church in the centre of town, lies Avondrust. This impressive Edwardian mansion houses a guest house and B&B which prides itself with having 'gracious living' as its philosophy.

The Luxury Suite, in the main Manor house, has its own private lounge, verandah and summerhouse.

The Honeymoon Suite and other four deluxe rooms are all en-suite with private entrances leading into the garden behind the house.

All the rooms boast space, privacy and comfort plus the use of a large pool overlooking the mountains.

Three of the rooms are in the converted barn and stable of the original property and two are newly built.

Avondrust is within walking distance to all shops, museums and restaurants.

Why visit Avondrust Guest House and B&B
Best Features: Separate entrances into the garden and pool.  Great position for sightseeing in town.

Bear In Mind: Position while perfect for seeing the town is more noisy than places in the suburbs.  DSTV is communal.  No kids under 12 please.

Things to Do and See

As this town is home to more national monuments than any other in South Africa, it makes sense to use of the perfect location of Avondrust and wander around the centre looking for these historical gems.

Reinet House which was once the Dutch Reform Church parsonage is now an enlightening art museum.  Other places of interest are the Old Library Museum, Hester Rupert Art Museum (6th oldest church building), the Old Residency, and the Jan Rupert Centre.

If you have limited time make sure that you get up to the viewing sites and the Valley of Desolation overlooking the town. These are well worth the effort and even more spectacular at sunset, helped on by an ice cold G&T.  Keep your eyes peeled for game on the way there.
