About 6 hours' drive from both Johannesburg and Port Elizabeth on the Friendly N6 Route, it's an ideal and affordable travel break. The atmosphere of bygone times is strongly sensed upon entering the restored old buildings. A heart-warming and refreshingly different experience awaits the traveller at Artists’ Colony - Smithfield’s only national monument.

"Friendly" N6 in the Free State Province (Central South Africa).

At the corner of Voortrekker and Church streets (at Luigi's)turn
left into Church street. Artists' Colony is located approximately 100m
down Church street on the left-hand side.
