Northern Cape

The largest and least-populated province, the Northern Cape is 'big sky country' - steeped in history & culture. It celebrates the great outdoors - challenging 4x4 and hiking trails, adventure sports, game & hunting and its spectacular annual floral fancy dress - the Namaqualand wild flowers.  It forms part of the ancient hunting grounds of the San people (arguably the earliest inhabitants of southern Africa), and rich in early KhoiSan rock art.

It's also home to the red sand dunes of the Kalahari, where the majestic black-maned lions are found.  With a scattering of towns with strange names - from Kakamas to Kuruman, Hotazel to Port Nolloth, Pofadder to Springbok, the northern Cape has a magnetism as ancient as the earth itself ...
