Umhlanga & Umdloti Umhlanga (Place of Reeds) and Umdloti together form a wide expance of tropical paradise, known to the locals as the 'Riviera' of Durban. There's a wide range of accommodation on offer but it is generally more upmarket - especially towards the Umlanga side. Umdloti is renowned for its dramatic rock formations out in the bay, which can turn the ocean into a big, lazy calm, tidal pool when the tides are low.
