Central BattlefieldsIncl. Dundee, Glencoe, Rorke's Drift, Isandlwana, Nqutu, Fort Mistake, Blood River BattlefieldDundee is probably the biggest town of this region. It's a quaint, pretty and historic town. Named by a Scotsman who made it big in the coal industry, the town became prosperous and you can still see traces of its former glory in some of the lovely local homes and the village's theatre. Many of the British forces were stationed here and it was near here, on Talana hill, where the first shots of the Boer War were fired. The annual "Ghost Walk" follows in the footsteps of the British soldiers on the anniversary of the Talana Battle (20 October).Today, it's a lively farming and nature-rich town which attracts growing numbers of artists, crafters, hikers and birders.
