North East Pretoria/Tshwane

A large stretch of land, mostly bordering on the N1 highway to the north (also known as the Great North Road or the Great Old Thirsty before the new road was built). 

It also encompasses some of the former homelands of the previous Apartheid regime, like the sprawling area of Hammanskraal.  In summer, it's a pleasant sight of rolling green grasses, interspersed with thorn trees.  In winter, its clad in a drab cloak of brown with waving tracts of bleached wild grasses.
