East Rand / Ekurhuleni

The East Rand area is now known as the Ekurhuleni ('place of peace') Metropolitan area and incorporates most of these friendly working towns: Alberton, Benoni, Boksburg, Brakpan, Edenvale, Thokoza, Germiston, Springs, Kempton Park, Thembisa, Katlehong and Nigel.

Traditionally a mining & industrial region, the area has developed in its own right and has a lot to offer with its vibrant townships, wetlands, nature reserves and quaint, historic towns.

OR Tambo International Airport, JohannesburgIt's also home to OR Tambo International Airport  - the biggest airport in Africa which sees more than 17 million passengers through its doors.  It was previously known as Johannesburg International Airport (1994) and for many years before that, it was known as Jan Smuts International (since 1952).

It has just undergone extensive alterations and upgrades and is ready to welcome global and local guests for the 2010 FIFA (tm) World Cup.  South Africa's major international and domestic carrier is South African Airlines.

O.R. Tambo International Airport is a first-class, first-world airport
and is the gateway to Southern Africa
