Cullinan/Metsweding District Both of the world's biggest diamonds (Cullinan found in 1905 at a whopping 3 106 carats) and the Golden Jubilee (1985), were found at Premier Mine, Cullinan in the Metsweding District
in the north-east corner of Gauteng province. The area is rich with natural & historical attractions and ancient cultures.
Left: Star of Africa, one of over 100 stones cut from the Cullinan Diamond, weighs 530 carats. Both this and the Golden Jubilee are on display at the Tower of London as part of the Crown Jewels.
It's also home to Dinokeng - a project developed to show you "All of Africa in One Day" - a melting pot of cultures, game drives, diamond mines and traditional lifestyles.
