Gauteng

This is South Africa's tiniest (1.4% in area) but most urbanised & densely populated province (estimated 10.5 million people - mid 2008). It's the economic, commercial & shopping hub - Africa's answer to Singapore. People here work hard ... and play harder. 

Gauteng is home to two World Heritage sites: the Cradle of Humankind - where the first recognisable hominids walked the Earth; and the 220 000 year-old Tswaing Meteorite Crater  in Tshwane, the world's best-kept small meteorite crater.

The weather's great too: long, hot summers (can have hectic electrical thunder storms), crisp winters (clear blue sunny skies) and plenty of sunshine all year round.
