Northern Free State (Fezile Dabi Region)

Includes:  Deneysville, Edenville, Frankfort, Heilbron, Koppies, Kroonstad, Oranjeville, Parys, Sasolburg, Tweeling, Viljoenskroon, Villiers, Vredefort.  

With it's neighbour Gauteng, this region borders the 300 km² Vaal Dam, the main water source and major inland playground for all types of water sports.  It's less than an hour's drive from OR Tambo International Airport and is home to heaps of resorts, lodges and campsites.

It's also home to the ancient meteorite site, the Vredefort Dome.  200km in diameter, it's one of the oldest and the third largest in the world. It's a declared World Heritage Site.

Sasolburg is the area's hub and one of South Africa's major industrial centres, home to the Sasol Group of Companies, famous for their discovery of how to turn coal into liquid fuel.

The main playground areas are centered around Deneysville and the Jim Fouché Resort near Oranjeville
