There are just 2 more days left for the people of Cape Town to suggest a new name for the stunning new stadium, situated in the suburb of Green Point.
Residents can e-mail their name suggestions together with the reasons behind them to
stadium@capetown.gov.za. The city of Cape Town promises that all good suggestions will be considered.
Entries must be in by no later than Friday 9 October 2009.
One of the most popular options so far is
"Cape Town Stadium" for a variety of reasons, such as:
* 'Cape Town' is far better known and identified than 'Green Point'
* It's neutral and apolitical
* It promotes civic pride and a sense of unity amongst all Capetonians
* If it's referred to as the 'Cape Town Stadium' during all 2010 FIFA World Cup™ events and broadcasts, it will do an amazing PR and promotional job for the city worldwide.
