Wonderboom National Airport in Pretoria has been revamped it's ready to be busy, busy, busy during the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Scheduled flights will operate from the airport to other host cities and accommodation venues. And it's perfectly located to act as a custom petrol stop for aircraft.
All other 2010 World Cup host cities are: (besides Pretoria) Johannesburg, Polokwane, Rustenburg, Durban, Port Elizabeth, Durban, Nelspruit and Cape Town.
The jazzed-up airport now has arrival and departure halls, a porte cochere with kiosks and a public transport facility for tour buses and mini-bus taxis.
Most of the flights will be operated by an independent airline -
Interlink Airlines.
The South African Government has invested over R440 million in the project through the Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality and a total of 1 629 jobs were created during its construction.
The airport is expected to handle 6 800 general aviation and helicopter passengers each year, creating even more sustainable jobs in the long term.
Another post-2010 legacy created. Good one!
