South Africa will be showing off just how ready it is to host the
2010 FIFA World Cup at the upcoming Japanese JATA World Travel
Fair (WTF), a 3-day event which takes place in Tokyo from this
Friday.
At the specially designed "Fan Park", South African Tourism,
together with FIFA partners like Sony, Adidas and Coca Cola, is
set to wow visitors to the show with our own brand of entertainment,
raw energy and enthusiasm.
Visitors can look forward to learning how to do the Diski Dance, enjoy
photo sessions with Zakumi (the 2010 mascot), free-style football per-
formances, kick-goal game demos and drumming workshops.
The Fan Park will show the Japanese trade and media the full array of
South Africa's preparations for the FIFA (TM) 2010 World Cup - as well
as displaying all the attractions that make South Africa such a popular
tourist destination.
Last year, this show saw 763 exhibitors from 136 countries and regions and attracted an all-time high of over 100 000 visitors. The JATA World Travel Fair is the Japanese equivalent of South Africa's Tourism Indaba.
Tourism Minister, Marthinus van Schalkwyk, along with other African
Diplomatic Corporation ambassadors will jet-off to Tokyo to attend the
WTF.
