Three visitor information centres have just been launched in Port Elizabeth (in Nelson Mandela Bay) as part of the information programme to make sure that all guests arriving at the city for the 2010 Fifa World Cup will not be left standing, wondering where they are and what they can do.
You can find these Info Centres at Port Elizabeth Airport, the Boardwalk Casino & Entertainment World and the lighthouse at Donkin Reserve.
Other info centres like these are planned for the other host cities around the country, including: Polokwane (Pietersburg), Bloemfontein, Rustenburg and Nelspruit.
These Info Centres will be geared with the latest technology and can assist visitors with a range of advice on where to stay, what to do, tours and day trips, car hire, etc. There'll be easy-to-use touch screens linked to a range of tourism products. Free internet will be available as well as an on-line booking system.
These centres, developed at a cost of R6.7-million, are just one of South Africa's World Cup legacy projects intended to provide jobs and benefit the country's citizens and visitors way beyond 2010.
